Good Morning Members.

It has finally happened. I gues you can say , I have arrived. I will be blogging daily on  doll history & the Africacan American experience, current events, the state of the museum.

So what is the Art of Dining? The museum has been selected to participate in Fall Arrt Week Boston. Thus. Far we are the only organization in Southern, Ma to have been bestowed this honor. Art Week celebrate the Arts with unique behind the scene or one of a kind events celebrating the arts. We needed to reschedule the retired White House Chef for our fundraiser and  Art Week was a perfect platform. The Art of Dining will celebrate the closing of our exhibit "Running North" Journey of the Underground Railroad.

. Ironically it is a significant ending with a culinary program. Historically, slavery ended officially on January 1, 1863 however in Galveston, Texas the last slaves were not freed until June 19, 1865 two and half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Upon learning of their Freedom the emotions ranged from shock & disbelief to celebratory. Many ex slaves immediately ventured off to look for family members; others began the migration north, most, however just lingered partaking in what would become the first Juneteenth celebration. A festive occasion filled with food, music, and education.

Fall Art week runs from Sept.27th –October 4th, 2015. However, in the museum’s gallery a series of five talk and taste culinary events will be presented in four days: Thursday Oct.1st – Sunday October 4th from 7-10PM with a matinee on Saturday October 3rd from 2- 5 PM.
